there's a door on the eighth

ASTROLOGICALLY SPEAKING / AUGUST 2026

joy is the most revolutionary thing available right now

8/8 + TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE / 8/12

I've said I don't give a fuck what people think about me. It was a lie.

I've bent over backwards for approval. And in a comment section of thousands of thousands of comments, the one comment that degraded me or poked at a flaw I contained became an obsession of mine. I equated likes with how well I was received, like I equated growth with how much I was growing.

And it's not just me.

You said the thing at dinner and then spent the whole drive home running it back. You sent the text message and watched for the three dots. Somewhere along the way we all picked up an instrument for measuring how we're landing, and almost none of us built the instrument.

Two dates, and they want opposite things from you

August 8 and August 12, 2026 Leo astrology chart: Sun at 18 degrees Leo with Jupiter at 10 degrees Leo on August 8; total solar eclipse at 20 degrees 2 minutes Leo on August 12.

Chart evidence · Aug 8: Sun 18° Leo + Jupiter 10° Leo · Aug 12: eclipse 20°02′ Leo

The 12th brings a total solar eclipse at twenty degrees of Leo, sitting on the south node, which moved into Leo on July 26 and stays about eighteen months. A south node eclipse is a subtraction. Something gets taken out so you can hear what was underneath it.

The 8th is different, and I'll be straight with you. 8/8, the Lionsgate. There's no transit that day. Anybody telling you the sky does a specific thing on August 8 is filling in a blank.

Here's what is true, and I think it's better. The Sun is in Leo and Jupiter is in Leo, both, and that hasn't lined up on an 8th of August since 2015. It won't again until 2038. Jupiter is the gospel planet, and it turns whatever it touches into a philosophy.

And enough people have decided to treat that day as a door that the deciding does something. A collective agreement kept by strangers, changing how a day feels. That's the most Aquarian thing there is (Leo's perfect opposite), and the only way in is to show up as yourself and make something, which is the most Leo.

The ego is not the enemy

Every forecast about the eclipse will land in the same place. Kill the ego. Humble yourself. Sit down. Stop needing to be seen.

I think that's wrong, and it does real damage to people who learned young that wanting to be seen was dangerous.

The ego is not the enemy. Our lack of awareness of ourselves and each other, that's the separation.

Sometimes giving a fuck is evidence that you're paying attention. The problem was never that I cared. The problem was the barometer, and somebody handed me that barometer and I called it my own judgment. My own south node is Leo, and this eclipse lands seven degrees off it in the middle of my nodal return, so I'm inside this one too.

Joy is the revolutionary position

The coldness and the detachment feel tethered to a truth that is itself outdated. And look, I get it, the world is right now. But perhaps the most revolutionary spin on this crisis point moment we're living in is that of joy. Of inspiration. Of the feeling of bringing a smile to someone's face through your expression of joy. Being an example of the life we wish to preserve!

At some point the information has to move and dance and express or we become apathetic.

Leo is the aliveness that is human. The embodiment of our creative potential. Fixed fire. Fixed will. Fixed light. Hoarding the spotlight defeats the purpose. But sharing the spotlight is what makes us all feel seen and witnessed and valued and heard as these beautiful little fragments of the collective spirit.

Two things to do this week

AUGUST 8 / THE OFFERING

Make something and give it away to one person

Give it directly instead of posting it. A voice memo, a bad drawing, four sentences about why you love them. One person, by name, who didn't ask. You walk through the door by making something for a reason other than reach. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Shine bright like a diamond baby!

AUGUST 12 / THE SUBTRACTION

Use your gift where you get nothing back

Take the one thing you're best at that also runs you, the charm, the story, the entrance, the fixing, going invisbile, the being-the-one-who-knows, and spend it once with no credit, no post, no tag. Then watch what your ego does. That watching is the practice, and the nervous system needs that experiential data to challenge its ingrained biases.

Underneath both is a question I've stopped trying to answer. Would you still do the thing you do if nobody clapped? Would you still be YOU if someone wasn't praising you? Who would you be if nobody was watching?

It's never gonna be enough until you fully embrace your enoughness. And that is a delicate dance.

If you're ready to truly individuate, that's the six weeks of Elemental Air, and the Aquarius section is this exact skill: staying yourself in a room that would prefer you smooth. Live Orientation is 4 PM Pacific on the 12th, eclipse day. Thirty places, closes that night at 11:59 Pacific.

what does she want now (Cancer New Moon)
Hi friend, When I was a kid, my family kept an open door. Whatever you need, they would say, come on over, just ask, “sin pena,” they would say. And I believed them, until I started noticing the other half. Someone would come walking across the street toward our house, and I'd hear one of the adults mutter under their breath, “mira esta, what does she want now?” And then swing the door open a ...
look at me (Jupiter enters Leo)
Yesterday morning two people climbed out onto the needle of the Empire State Building, more than a quarter mile of open air under their shoes, and unfurled a black banner over the most watched city on earth. White letters: when the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace. (Jimi Hendrix) Then, up there on the spire with the wind and the helicopters and half of New York film...
the tired that was never yours (Capricorn Full Moon)
Some of the tiredness you're carrying this week isn't yours. I mean that almost literally, so stay close. You wake up a little before you meant to, and the list is already running. Before your feet are on the floor, before coffee, before you've even agreed to be awake, the weight of the whole day arrives ahead of you and settles onto your shoulders like a coat you put on without deciding to. An...
