What’s on your side of the scale?

Hola, amor. On October 25, Venus walked backwards into Libra, her own sign. The sign of the scale. And on that exact day, two countries put their weight on it. In Serbia, the students who started organizing after the Novi Sad canopy collapse almost two years ago ran for parliament as the Student List, and Aleksandar Vučić conceded. It was the highest turnout in more than thirty years. In Brazil, Lula came from behind in the runoff and won a fourth term. No first-round runner-up had won the presidency since the dictatorship ended. Same day. Venus goes home to her scale, and millions of people walk into a voting booth to weigh what they value against what they’re done carrying. Pluto stationed direct at 3 Aquarius on October 16, and you can feel it all over the planet. A growing population is fed up with the power dynamics inside institutions that profit from us. Our time, our energy, our resources, our value. All of it. Meanwhile Venus spent the first three weeks of this retrograde down in Scorpio, the sign of debt and of everything we keep buried. A lot came up from down there. If October felt LOUD, in the world and in your own house, that’s why.

Now she’s back on the scale. And there has never been a more exciting time to sit with what we value, what we’re worth, what we truly want to stand for, and the life we want to keep nurturing.

Now through November 13 What’s on your side of the scale Venus is what we value. Libra is the scale. Retrograde means she’s walking back over every agreement we’ve made, including the quiet ones we made with ourselves. A scale has no opinion. It doesn’t care what you meant or how hard you tried. You put something on it and it reports. So look at what’s on yours. Your calendar from last week and your bank statement from last month know your values better than any vision board ever will.

The most valuable resource we have ever had is our time.I know so many of us are feeding our hours to greedy machines that only mine us for them. But if you have time to scroll, you have time to sit down with yourself and ask what you want to give those hours to.

Try this Draw a line down the middle of a page. On the left, write what you say you value. On the right, write where your time, money and energy went in the last seven days. Don’t fix anything yet. Read it the way the scale would. Consider this Venus retrograde is better for renegotiating than for signing. Before you commit to anything new, look at the deals already on the table. Especially the one where you keep piling yourself onto somebody else’s side of the scale.

November 13 The day everything stands still On the morning of November 13, Mercury turns direct at 5 Scorpio. That same evening, Venus turns direct at 22 Libra. When a planet stations, it slows down and hangs in one spot of the sky, and that spot gets loud. Mercury is the story we tell. Venus is what we value. On the 13th, both of them stop at once. That’s your day to say it. On paper, out loud, to someone you trust. ONE thing you’re willing to stand for. And if you’ve been watching the news and feeling like you aren’t doing enough, hear me. The true revolution is happening in the stillness of our hearts, the heart that’s quaking to bring forward what only you can bring. You have to get still long enough to say, okay, this is what I want to give. This is the world I want to see. Try this Finish two sentences and keep them somewhere you’ll see them. “I’m done carrying ___.” And “From here on, my time goes to ___.” Consider this The sentence is enough for the 13th. The plan can come on the walk forward.

November 13 to December 15 Walk it forward Once she turns direct, Venus walks forward over the exact stretch of sky she just reviewed. She moves through Libra, crosses into Scorpio on December 4, and goes all the way to 8 Scorpio, where this whole thing started. She gets there December 15. This is the stretch where the review becomes how you live. A lot of people are waking up to the fact that those who hold and hoard the money, the power and the resources have no interest in redistributing any of it. So redistribute yours. Your time, your skills, your love, back into the collective stream. The reason so many of us feel dead inside our own lives is that we’re not putting our gifts into that stream. When you do what only you can do, from excitement and love and curiosity, people feel it. People want to feel that from you. And it doesn’t have to be massive. adrienne maree brown puts it plainly in Emergent Strategy: “small is good, small is all.” If you want to be the best mother you can be so your kids inherit this world more intentionally, fuck yeah, do that. If you love upcycling bicycles, upcycle them and give them to your block. How many of y’all even know your neighbors’ names? Try this Take your “from here on” sentence and give it one real hour a week until December 15. Put it on the same calendar you put on the scale. Consider this Every hour you spend is weight on the scale. This life is too damn precious to keep handing that weight to people who don’t handle power consciously.
