the spell fear casts (Scorpio Full Moon May 1)

There's a kind of tired this week that started before today did. The kind that lives in your shoulders. The kind that holds a millimeter of clench in your jaw all day long. The tired sits underneath what you'd call exhaustion, AND it's older than this week can explain. Let's talk about it...

The volanco, the swamp, and the desert

We have a Scorpio Full Moon happening TODAY (Friday May 1st)  at eleven degrees. The tightest lunar opposition of the year, and a particular pressure on everything Mars touches. Mars rules Scorpio in classical astrology, so the warrior planet runs both signs at different depths. Aries + Mars is the volcano. The unburdened drive. The impulsive fire of a world being met for the first time. Scorpio + Mars is the deeper watering Mars. Same warrior energy at a different depth. Slower. More strategic. Fxed water that's been around long enough to know what it's holding.

And Mars itself, the planet, is own thing entirely. Mars is a desert. Once upon a time there were waters there. Canyons that rivers carved. The kind of trust between the elements that makes a place livable. But now there's red dust. An atmosphere stripped down to a thin trace. Remnants of a planet that paid the price of life and death.

Enter the Scorpio Full Moon, putting us inside this tension of memory & truth. This reminder that somewhere along the way, the river stopped flowing, pooling itself into a swamp of stagnancy. On the surface we see death and decay, but if we were to go DEEPER, we'd see that there's rich life in between those layers of pooled memory. To confront the honest truth of this delicate balance is to live in the evolutionary path of Scorpio.

The spells we cast through our words

There's a thing language does. The way you talk to yourself. The story you tell when somebody asks how you're doing. The narrative you've rehearsed so many times that it stopped being a description of the past and started being the operating system which runs your life today.

That's a spell. Spells are made of language repeated over time until language hardens into a structure. Some of the spells running in you were cast a long time ago, by people who loved you, in conditions where the spell was the safest thing they had to pass forward. Still rendering you small in rooms you desperately want to be full-sized in.

This Full Moon arrives with a particular Scorpionic conclusion. The spell has already been casted. The bite already happened. The poison is already in. And while most shadow work asks you to guard yourself against danger. This lunation asks you to extract what's already been carried, with discernment about which of the skeletons in your closet were ever yours to begin with.

And here's the part that catches me every time I sit with this. When we keep telling the story of how we were betrayed, we let the person who betrayed us win AGAIN. They caused harm, yes. But then, with every jaded retelling, every loop we run, every closet of evidence we keep open: the wound is opened yet again. The narrative of the wound becomes another victory for "them," whoever "them" is.

This Full arrives with a separate question from forgetting. A separate question from forgiveness, which has its own conditions and timelines and gets handed out only on terms you set. The question this Full Moon is asking is whether the story you keep replaying is actually keeping you safe or keeping you small. And you're the only one who can answer that.

What spell has been keeping in the swamp?

We gotta be real here, the energies are quickly shifting. With all this Aries energy sitting in the collective consciousness for a while (Saturn & Neptune in Aries), we gotta get this river flowing somehow.

The water HAS to move this week. And you can let it move by accident, in a fight that surfaced before you chose to enter it, in the breakdown you've been postponing. Or you can move it on purpose. Through the small, deliberate refusal to keep living the spell cast on you from a place of wounding. Through showing yourself that you are capable of carrying something different forward. And that is ONLY POSSIBLE when you let that shit go.

No apology, no crazy amounts of shadow work or inner child healing is gonna do that for you. All you have is CHOICE. And in every choice, you can either reinforce those illusory chains you carry or BREAK THEM!

The courage to begin again (New Moon in Aries)
There's a particular kind of courage that doesn't look like courage from the outside. It's not the first leap. It's the second one. The one you take knowing everything the first one cost you. THAT'S what I keep sitting with this week. On April 17th, the New Moon lands at 27°29' Aries with six, seven planets if you include Chiron stacked in the same sign. Sun, Moon, Neptune, Saturn, Mars, Mercur...
Your life needs a shift in perspective (Pisces New Moon)
I alphabetized my spice rack twice last week. Not because it needed it. Because sitting with "I don't know what I'm feeling right now" was so uncomfortable that my body needed to sort something. Anything. Give me cumin before oregano. Give me a system. Give me one thing I can organize while everything inside me refuses to organize itself. And I know you know what I'm talking about. That feeling...
This week the astrology gets personal (and public)
Hello beautiful soul! So, we're a few days into Neptune entering Aries, just before Saturn does the same, and right in the middle of what I'm calling the liminal weeks. On Feb 1st we had a Full Moon at 13° Leo, and TODAY Uranus stations direct in Taurus. And I need us to pay attention to what's happening in our bodies this week, because the astrology is asking a question we can't actually avoid...
